  Structural Integration

Structural Integration
Structural Integration (SI) is a specialised form of bodywork developed by Dr Ida P Rolf. It is a wholistic system of treatment that aims to create better balance within the body, especially with respect to gravity. With restored posture and effective movement, a Structurally Integrated body can accept and work with gravity rather than constantly fighting to overcome it. The SI process traditionally occurs through a series of ten sessions.
I have long been influenced by the philosophy of this work and now, as a graduate of SI Australia's certification program, I am excited about sharing its significant benefits with peoples from all walks of life.

  Contact Improvisation

Contact Improvisation
Contact Improvisation (CI) is a highly enjoyable dance form that involves the dynamic interplay of natural forces, such as gravity & momentum, with the communicative ability of touch & contact.
In my exploration of CI, I have danced with State of Flux, Martin Hughes, Ray Chung, Karen Nelson, Joerg Hassmann, Gustavo Lecce. I have taught and performed extensively across Australia, as well as in New Zealand, Malaysia, Germany and the Unites States. In my teaching, I enjoy creating a sense of playful focus, in a space of exploration, where improvisation allows a deepening of concepts and skills.

  Remedial Massage

Remedial Massage
As a Remedial Massage Therapist with over 5 years industry experience, my work is strongly influenced by the ideas of structural balance. I bring together a range of techniques for working with soft tissue and joint-related problems, to achieve effective outcomes. I have experience in myofascial release (MFR), joint mobilizations, muscle energy technique (MET), acupressure, cranial-sacral balancing (CSB) and movement repatterning to help release and correct musculoskeletal troubles. Pain and chronic stiffness that interfere with normal function are the two most common complaints of people seeking manual therapy.

  The Pilates Method

Pilates Method
The Pilates method is a system of therapuetic movement for better health, named for its creator Joseph Pilates. Endorsed by many health practitioners, it is a conditioning program that not only has physiological benefits, but increases awareness of the body/mind connection. At Studio 202, I teach the method using the full range of Pilates' equipment as well as incorporating mat exercises with many of the small apparatus. Some of the benefits Pilates has been shown to provide are: improved flexibility, greater strength and muscle tone, more efficient respiratory system, lowered stress levels, less incidence of back pain, better posture and tone.
